A quick and comforting chocolate mug cake ready in just five minutes, perfect for late-night cravings or unexpected guests.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 4 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/8 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt
  • 3 tablespoons milk
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Optional: chocolate chips or sprinkles

Instructions

  1. Mix dry ingredients: In a microwave-safe mug, combine the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt. Stir thoroughly to ensure there are no lumps hiding in the corners.
  2. Add wet ingredients: Pour in the milk, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract. Using a spoon, mix until everything is smooth and well blended. If you’re feeling adventurous, add in your chocolate chips or sprinkles at this stage and give it another gentle stir.
  3. Microwave to perfection: Place the mug in the microwave and cook on high for 1 to 1.5 minutes. Keep an eye on it; the cake will rise beautifully as it cooks. You’ll know it’s ready when it has set in the center—no more gooey batter!
  4. Let it cool & enjoy: Once your mug cake is done, let it cool for a minute. This is the hardest part—you’ll want to dive in immediately! But trust me, patience is a virtue when it comes to enjoying warm desserts.

Notes

Ensure your mug is large enough (about a 12-ounce mug is ideal) to prevent overflow. If it becomes dry, top it with ice cream or syrup to moisten it.
