The Best Ever Tuna Salad Sandwich

A quick and flavorful tuna salad sandwich that brings back childhood nostalgia.

Ingredients

  • 1 can of tuna, drained (about 5 oz)
  • 3 tablespoons mayonnaise
  • 1 tablespoon pickle relish
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon finely chopped celery
  • 1 tablespoon finely chopped onion (or green onion)
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 4 slices of bread (your choice: whole grain, white, or sourdough)
  • Lettuce or spinach leaves, for serving
  • Tomato slices, for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Gather your ingredients on the counter.
  2. Prepare the drained tuna in a medium-sized bowl; break apart any large chunks.
  3. Mix in the mayonnaise, pickle relish, and Dijon mustard (if using).
  4. Add finely chopped celery and onion; season with salt and pepper.
  5. Stir gently until well combined.
  6. Assemble the sandwich by spreading the tuna salad on two slices of bread.
  7. Add lettuce leaves and tomato slices on top, if desired.
  8. Complete the sandwich with the remaining slices of bread and press down slightly.

Notes

Best enjoyed fresh, but leftovers can be stored for up to 2 days in the refrigerator.
