Delightful blueberry cinnamon rolls that combine the warm flavors of cinnamon and sugar with juicy blueberries, perfect for breakfast or brunch.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 package (2 1/4 tsp) active dry yeast
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup butter, melted
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 cup fresh blueberries
  • 1 tablespoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 12 tablespoons milk for icing

Instructions

  1. Activate the yeast by combining warm milk and yeast in a small bowl; let sit until foamy.
  2. Prepare the dough mixture by mixing flour, sugar, and salt in a large bowl. Add the milk mixture, melted butter, and egg; stir until a dough forms.
  3. Knead the dough on a floured surface until smooth, then let rise in a warm place for about 60 minutes or until doubled.
  4. Roll out the dough into a rectangle, spread with softened butter, and sprinkle with brown sugar, cinnamon, and blueberries.
  5. Shape the rolls by rolling tightly into a log and slicing into rolls. Place in a greased baking dish and let rise for another 30 minutes.
  6. Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for 20-25 minutes until golden.
  7. Drizzle icing made by mixing powdered sugar with milk over warm rolls.

Notes

Check the freshness of your yeast and ensure the dough rises adequately for the best texture. You can substitute blueberries with other fruits as desired.
