Homemade Cinnamon Rolls

Delicious and comforting homemade cinnamon rolls topped with luscious icing, perfect for breakfast or dessert.

Ingredients

  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup butter, softened
  • 1 packet active dry yeast
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup butter, melted
  • 1 cup icing sugar
  • 2 tablespoons milk (for icing)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Activate the yeast by combining warm milk and yeast in a bowl. Let sit for 5-10 minutes until frothy.
  2. Mix the dry ingredients in another bowl: flour, sugar, and salt until well combined.
  3. Add melted butter, eggs, and the yeast mixture to the flour mixture; combine well to form a dough.
  4. Knead for 5-10 minutes until smooth, then let rise until doubled in size, about 1 hour.
  5. Roll out the dough on a floured surface into a rectangle. Spread melted butter, then sprinkle brown sugar and cinnamon on top.
  6. Roll up the dough tightly starting from one long edge and cut into slices.
  7. Place slices in a greased baking dish and let rise for 30 minutes.
  8. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
  9. Prepare the icing by whisking together icing sugar, milk, and vanilla until smooth.
  10. Drizzle icing over warm cinnamon rolls and serve.

Notes

Perfect for Christmas mornings or Sunday gatherings. These rolls are best served warm with coffee or hot cocoa.
