A comforting and nostalgic Classic Tuna Melt Sandwich made with tuna, cheese, and buttery bread.

Ingredients

  • 2 cans tuna, drained
  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 tbsp Dijon mustard
  • 1/4 cup diced celery
  • 1/4 cup diced red onion
  • 4 slices bread
  • 4 slices cheddar cheese
  • 1 tbsp butter

Instructions

  1. Combine the tuna mixture in a mixing bowl, fluffing the tuna with mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, celery, and red onion.
  2. Prepare the bread base by spreading the tuna mixture over two slices of bread.
  3. Layer on the cheese by placing two slices on top of the tuna mixture.
  4. Seal the sandwich by placing the remaining bread on the cheese and gently pressing down.
  5. Butter the outside of the sandwiches generously.
  6. Cook in a heated skillet over medium heat for 3-4 minutes on each side until golden brown and cheese is melted.

Notes

Serve with crispy potato chips or a garden salad. Leftovers can be stored in the fridge for up to two days.
