Classic Tuna Melt Sandwich

A fast and flavorful tuna melt sandwich combining protein-rich tuna with crunchy celery and zesty onion, grilled to perfection.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 can (5 oz) tuna in water, drained
  • 2 tbsp mayonnaise
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1/4 cup diced celery
  • 1/4 cup diced red onion
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 slices whole wheat bread
  • 1 tbsp butter

Instructions

  1. Mix the drained tuna, mayonnaise, lemon juice, diced celery, and diced red onion in a bowl.
  2. Season the tuna mixture generously with salt and pepper to taste.
  3. Spread the tuna mixture evenly over one slice of bread.
  4. Place the second slice of bread over the cheese-topped tuna mixture.
  5. Butter the outside of your sandwich.
  6. Heat a skillet over medium heat and cook the sandwich until golden brown on both sides, about 3-4 minutes each side.

Notes

Serve with a side of crispy pickles or a fresh mixed greens salad. Pairs well with lemonade.
