Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/3 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 packet (2 1/4 tsp.) Rapid Rise Instant Yeast
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 1/2 cups milk
  • 6 tablespoons butter
  • 1 egg, room temperature
  • 1/4 cup butter, room temperature (for filling)
  • 2/3 cup light brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
  • Pinch of salt (for filling)
  • 4 ounces cream cheese, room temperature (for frosting)
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, room temperature (for frosting)
  • 3 cups powdered sugar
  • 23 tablespoons milk (for frosting)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Pinch of salt (for frosting)

Instructions

  1. Gather the dry ingredients in a large bowl: flour, sugar, yeast, and salt.
  2. Warm the milk and butter together until melted, then let it cool to lukewarm.
  3. Combine the milk mixture and egg with the dry ingredients and mix until a dough forms.
  4. Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface until smooth.
  5. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let it rise until doubled in size, about 1 hour.
  6. Prepare the filling by mixing the softened butter, brown sugar, cinnamon, and a pinch of salt in a small bowl.
  7. Roll out the dough on a floured surface into a rectangle shape.
  8. Spread the filling evenly over the rolled-out dough, ensuring every corner is covered.
  9. Starting from one end, roll the dough tightly into a log.
  10. Cut the rolled dough into individual rolls and place them in a greased baking dish.
  11. Let the rolls rise again until doubled, about 30 minutes.
  12. Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for 20-25 minutes until golden and delicious.
  13. For the frosting, beat the cream cheese and butter together, then mix in powdered sugar, milk, vanilla, and a pinch of salt until smooth.
  14. Spread the frosting generously over the warm cinnamon rolls before serving.
