A delicious combination of spicy and sweet meatballs bathed in a luscious ketjap chili sauce, perfect for gatherings and family dinners.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 500g ground meat (beef, pork, or a mix)
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon chili flakes
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons ketjap manis (sweet soy sauce)
  • 1 egg
  • 100g breadcrumbs
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Oil for frying
  • For the sauce:
  • 1/4 cup ketjap manis
  • 1/4 cup chili sauce
  • 1 tablespoon lime juice

Instructions

  1. Combine the meat mixture: In a bowl, combine the ground meat, onion, garlic, chili flakes, soy sauce, ketjap manis, egg, breadcrumbs, salt, and pepper.
  2. Mix until well blended: Mix until well combined and form into small meatballs, about the size of a golf ball.
  3. Fry the meatballs: Heat oil in a frying pan over medium heat and fry the meatballs until golden and cooked through, roughly 10-15 minutes.
  4. Prepare the sauce: In a separate saucepan, mix together the ketjap manis, chili sauce, and lime juice, heating until warm—just a few minutes will do.
  5. Serve and drizzle: Serve the meatballs drizzled with the sauce, and watch how everyone dives in for seconds!
