A comforting bowl of spaghetti adorned with fresh seafood and spicy arrabiata sauce, ready in just 30 minutes.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb Mixed Clams & Mussels (Ensure they are cleaned well.)
  • 1 lb Wild Shrimp (Use fresh or well-thawed.)
  • ½ lb Squid Tentacles (Can be substituted with scallops.)
  • ¼ cup Extra Virgin Olive Oil (Opt for high-quality oil.)
  • 4 cloves Garlic (Grated; fresh garlic is preferred.)
  • 1 tsp Red Pepper Flakes (Adjust based on spice preference.)
  • ½ cup White Wine (Can substitute with vegetable broth.)
  • 1 batch Arrabiata Tomato Sauce (~4 cups; store-bought is acceptable.)
  • ¾ lb Spaghetti (Use any long pasta as preferred.)
  • 1 Lemon (For serving, recommended for brightness.)
  • ⅓ cup Fresh Basil or Italian Parsley (Use parsley if basil isn’t available.)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Seafood: Start by cleaning your mixed clams and mussels, ensuring a fresh and clean serve. Pat the shrimp dry, and if using squid tentacles, give them a quick rinse before adding them to the pan.
  2. Heat the Olive Oil: In a large, deep skillet, heat the extra virgin olive oil over medium heat. Allow it to warm up for a minute or so until it’s just shimmering and fragrant.
  3. Sauté Garlic: Add the grated garlic to the oil, stirring it gently to avoid burning. Sauté for about 30 seconds until you can smell its sweet aroma.
  4. Add Spice and Wine: Sprinkle in the red pepper flakes, adjusting based on your preferred level of spice. Pour in the white wine (or vegetable broth) and let it simmer for a minute, allowing the flavors to meld.
  5. Introduce the Seafood: Carefully place the cleaned clams, mussels, shrimp, and squid into the skillet. Cover and let cook for about 5-7 minutes until the shellfish open and the shrimp turns pink.
  6. Add Arrabiata Sauce: Once the seafood is ready, pour in the arrabiata tomato sauce. Stir gently to coat everything in that fiery, rich sauce, letting it all mingle together for about 3-4 minutes.
  7. Cook the Spaghetti: Meanwhile, in a separate pot, cook the spaghetti according to package instructions. Drain and reserve a little pasta water for later if needed.
  8. Combine Pasta and Sauce: Add the drained spaghetti to the skillet with the seafood and sauce. Toss to combine, adding a splash of reserved pasta water if necessary to achieve the desired consistency.
  9. Garnish and Serve: Finish with a squeeze of fresh lemon juice for brightness and a sprinkle of chopped basil or parsley. Serve immediately, garnished with additional herbs if desired.

Notes

This seafood spaghetti pairs beautifully with a crisp green salad dressed in lemon vinaigrette. For a special touch, serve it with crusty garlic bread for dipping.
