Ingredients
Scale
1 package of puff pastry
8 oz cream cheese, softened
1/4 cup sugar
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 cup blueberries (fresh or frozen)
1 egg (for egg wash)
Powdered sugar (for dusting, optional)
Instructions
Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). This initial step is crucial for achieving that perfect golden crust.
Roll out the puff pastry on a lightly floured surface until it’s even and about 1/8 inch thick. Cut it into squares, approximately 4×4 inches, to form the base of your Danishes.
Prepare the cream cheese filling by combining softened cream cheese, sugar, and vanilla extract in a mixing bowl. Blend until smooth and creamy.
Spoon a generous spoonful of the creamy mixture into the center of each puff pastry square.
Add a few blueberries on top of the cream cheese filling.
Fold the corners of the pastry squares over the filling and pinch to seal tightly.
Brush the tops of the pastries with beaten egg for a golden finish.
Bake the Danishes on a baking sheet for 15-20 minutes, or until puffed and golden brown.
Cool slightly before dusting with powdered sugar if desired.
Notes
Pair with coffee or tea for an ideal treat. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 2 days.
