This fluffy, tender white bread features a slight sweetness and a golden crust, perfect for sandwiches or toasting.

Ingredients

  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup warm water
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil
  • 2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast
  • 1 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. Combine warm water, sugar, and yeast in a large bowl. Let it sit until foamy (about 5-10 minutes).
  2. Add vegetable oil and salt. Mix well.
  3. Gradually add flour, one cup at a time, mixing until a dough forms.
  4. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 8-10 minutes until smooth.
  5. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm place until it doubles in size (about 1 hour).
  6. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  7. Punch down the dough, shape it into a loaf, and place it in a greased loaf pan.
  8. Cover and let rise for another 30 minutes.
  9. Bake for 30-35 minutes until golden brown.
  10. Remove from the oven, let cool before slicing.

Notes

Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days or freeze slices for up to a month.
