A delightful Orange Cardamom Cake that combines fragrant spices with zesty orange for a moist and fluffy treat, perfect for celebrations or as a cozy indulgence.

  • 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 3/4 cup orange juice
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon ground cardamom
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1/2 cup orange buttercream frosting

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease two 9-inch round cake pans.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, and ground cardamom.
  3. Cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until fluffy.
  4. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then add the orange juice and vanilla extract.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing until just combined.
  6. Divide the batter evenly between the prepared pans.
  7. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  8. Once baked, let the cakes cool in the pans for about 10 minutes.
  9. Whip the heavy cream until soft peaks form, then gradually add powdered sugar.
  10. When the cakes are cooled, spread the cardamom cream between the layers and on top of the cake.
  11. Finally, frost with the orange buttercream frosting.
