This creamy white garlic pizza sauce is a luscious and rich alternative to traditional tomato-based sauces, perfect for elevating your pizza game.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups whole milk
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg

Instructions

  1. Melt the butter in a saucepan over medium heat until it becomes bubbly and fragrant.
  2. Add the minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute, allowing the aroma to fill your kitchen.
  3. Whisk in the flour and cook for 1-2 minutes until it turns a light golden color — this is your roux.
  4. Gradually whisk in the milk, ensuring there are no lumps, creating a base for your creamy sauce.
  5. Continue to cook while stirring until the sauce thickens — you’ll start to see it cling to the back of your spoon.
  6. Stir in the Parmesan cheese, salt, black pepper, and nutmeg until combined, allowing all flavors to meld beautifully.
  7. Remove from heat and let the sauce cool slightly before using to help it firm up for easier spreading.

Notes

Store any leftover sauce in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 4 days. It can also be frozen in ice cube trays for easy future use.
