A comforting Southern classic filled with savory chicken, smoky sausage, and a medley of vegetables, perfect for chilly days.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 pounds of chicken, cut into pieces
  • 1 pound of smoked sausage, sliced
  • 4 cups of chicken broth
  • 1 can (14.5 ounces) of diced tomatoes
  • 2 cups of corn, frozen or fresh
  • 1 cup of chopped onions
  • 1 cup of chopped bell peppers
  • 2 cups of chopped potatoes
  • 1 tablespoon of Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon of hot sauce (optional)
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Combine the meats: In a large pot, combine chicken, smoked sausage, and chicken broth. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat.
  2. Add the vegetables: Add the diced tomatoes, corn, onions, bell peppers, and potatoes to the pot. Stir in Worcestershire sauce and hot sauce to enhance the flavor.
  3. Simmer the stew: Reduce the heat to low and cover the pot. Simmer for about 90 minutes, or until the chicken is tender and all the flavors have melded into a delicious embrace.
  4. Shred the chicken: Remove chicken pieces from the pot, shred the meat, and return it to the pot for enhanced texture and flavor.
  5. Season to taste: Finally, season with salt and pepper to taste before serving.
