Baileys Chocolate Mousse

A luxurious and creamy dessert that combines semi-sweet chocolate and Baileys Irish Cream for an indulgent treat.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate, chopped
  • ½ cup whipping cream
  • ½ cup Baileys Irish Cream
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 1 tbsp butter
  • 4 egg whites
  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 1 cup whipping cream (for topping, optional)
  • 2 tbsp icing sugar (for topping, optional)
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract (for topping, optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Chocolate: Place the chopped chocolate in a heatproof bowl.
  2. Heat the Cream and Baileys: In a small saucepan over medium heat, warm the cream and Baileys.
  3. Combine Heated Mixture with Chocolate: Stir constantly until just before boiling, then pour the hot cream mixture over the chocolate.
  4. Melt and Mix: Stir until smooth, then whisk in the egg yolk and add the butter until fully incorporated.
  5. Make the Meringue: In a clean bowl, whip the egg whites until frothy, add sugar gradually, and whip until stiff peaks form.
  6. Fold Meringue into Chocolate Mixture: Gently fold the chocolate mixture into the meringue until fully combined.
  7. Assemble the Mousse: Spoon the mousse into serving glasses or bowls.
  8. Refrigerate until Set: Chill in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours.
  9. Make Whipped Cream Topping: Whip the cream until soft peaks form, then add icing sugar and vanilla, continuing to whip until stiff peaks form.
  10. Garnish and Serve: Top each mousse with whipped cream and garnish as desired.

Notes

Ensure mixing bowls are clean and free from grease for best meringue results.
