A warm, gooey indulgence perfect for gathering around with family and friends.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 12 tablespoons butter ( sticks), melted and cooled until warm
  • 1 cup light brown sugar
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 cups + 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • ½ teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1½ cups semi-sweet chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 325°F (165°C) so it’s hot and ready to bake.
  2. Place the butter in a microwave-safe bowl and heat for about 45 seconds, until mostly melted. Let it cool slightly until it’s warm but not hot to the touch.
  3. In a medium bowl, combine the melted butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar. Beat with an electric mixer until smooth and well blended.
  4. Add the egg, egg yolk, and vanilla extract to the sugar mixture. Mix until fully incorporated, creating a luscious batter.
  5. Add the flour, baking soda, and salt to the bowl. Stir just until combined—remember, no overmixing here!
  6. Gently fold in the semi-sweet chocolate chips, ensuring they’re evenly dispersed throughout the dough.
  7. Press the cookie dough evenly into a 10-inch or 12-inch cast iron skillet (or any oven-safe skillet) for an even bake.
  8. Bake in the preheated oven for 28–35 minutes, until the top is lightly golden and the center looks just set.
  9. Allow it to cool in the skillet for 20–30 minutes before slicing.
  10. Slice and serve warm for the best experience—ideally with a scoop of vanilla ice cream on top!

Notes

Serve warm with vanilla ice cream or a drizzle of chocolate sauce. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 2 days or refrigerate for up to a week.
