Creamy Maultaschen Skillet with Zucchini and Tomatoes

A delicious one-skillet dish featuring German dumplings, fresh zucchini, and tomatoes in a creamy sauce.

Ingredients

  • 400 g maultaschen
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 200 g zucchini, sliced
  • 200 g cherry tomatoes, halved
  • 1 small onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 150 ml heavy cream
  • 50 g grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 handful fresh basil leaves
  • Salt to taste
  • Black pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat until it shimmers.
  2. Add chopped onion and minced garlic; cook until fragrant and translucent, about 2–3 minutes.
  3. Add sliced zucchini and sauté until lightly browned, about 4 minutes.
  4. Stir in halved cherry tomatoes and cook until they just begin to soften, about 3 minutes.
  5. Pour in the heavy cream and bring it to a gentle simmer.
  6. Carefully add the maultaschen to the skillet, stirring gently to coat them in the creamy sauce and heat through, about another 5 minutes.
  7. Sprinkle grated Parmesan cheese over the skillet mixture and season with salt and black pepper to taste.

Notes

Serve hot garnished with extra basil and a drizzle of olive oil.
