A comforting classic with a creamy sauce, perfect for warming family gatherings.

  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 chopped onion
  • 2 cloves minced garlic
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 8 ounces egg noodles
  • Freshly chopped parsley for garnish

Instructions

  1. Sautéing the onions: In a large skillet, heat butter until melted and bubbly. Add chopped onions and cook for about 4 minutes until soft.
  2. Adding the garlic: Add minced garlic and cook for an additional 30 seconds.
  3. Browning the beef: Add ground beef, breaking it up as you cook for 6-8 minutes until browned.
  4. Coating with flour: Sprinkle flour over the beef mixture and stir well. Cook for 1 minute.
  5. Creating the sauce: Pour in beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, and Dijon mustard, stirring to combine.
  6. Seasoning: Add salt and black pepper, stirring to distribute evenly.
  7. Simmering: Lower heat and simmer for 5 minutes until sauce thickens.
  8. Cooking the noodles: Boil salted water and cook egg noodles for 7-9 minutes until al dente. Drain.
  9. Finishing the sauce: Stir in sour cream until smooth, adjusting seasoning as necessary.
  10. Combining noodles and sauce: Add drained noodles to skillet, stirring gently to combine.
  11. Serving: Transfer to plates and garnish with parsley before serving.

Notes

For added flavor, consider including mushrooms or bell peppers when sautéing the onions.
