A vibrant matcha smoothie packed with protein and nutrients to energize your day.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup unsweetened almond milk (or any milk of your choice)
  • 1 ripe banana, frozen
  • 1 tablespoon matcha green tea powder
  • 1 scoop vanilla or unflavored protein powder (whey or plant-based)
  • 1 tablespoon almond butter (or any nut butter)
  • 1 tablespoon chia seeds (optional for added fiber and omega-3s)
  • 1 tablespoon honey or maple syrup (optional, adjust based on sweetness preference)
  • 1/2 cup fresh spinach (optional for added greens)
  • Ice cubes (about 1/2 cup, adjust for desired thickness)

Instructions

  1. Gather your ingredients. Make sure your banana is frozen for the best creamy texture.
  2. Add your milky base: In a blender, combine 1 cup of unsweetened almond milk.
  3. Toss in the frozen banana. The banana should be peeled and cut in half for easier blending.
  4. Sprinkle in 1 tablespoon of matcha green tea powder, sifted to avoid clumps.
  5. Add 1 scoop of your chosen protein powder.
  6. Incorporate 1 tablespoon of almond butter for richness and healthy fats.
  7. If including chia seeds, throw in 1 tablespoon now.
  8. For sweetness, include 1 tablespoon of honey or maple syrup.
  9. Add 1/2 cup of fresh spinach, if using.
  10. Lastly, add about 1/2 cup of ice cubes.
  11. Blend everything on high for 30-45 seconds until smooth and creamy.
  12. Check the consistency; adjust with more milk if too thick.
  13. Pour the smoothie into a glass or bowl and enjoy immediately.

Notes

Pair with whole-grain toast topped with avocado or a handful of nuts for a more substantial breakfast. Store leftovers in a sealed container in the fridge for up to 24 hours.
