Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 box angel food cake mix
  • 1 cup water (for cake mix)
  • 2 cups strawberries, sliced
  • 1 cup whipped cream
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to the temperature specified on the angel food cake mix box. In a large mixing bowl, combine the angel food cake mix with 1 cup of water. Stir gently until the mixture is just combined; be careful not to overmix!
  2. Pour the cake batter into a bundt pan and place it into the preheated oven. Bake according to the package instructions, usually about 30 minutes, until the cake rises and is golden brown.
  3. Remove the cake from the oven and let it cool in the pan completely.
  4. Mix the sliced strawberries with 1/2 cup sugar in a bowl. Let them sit for about 15 minutes.
  5. Whip 1 cup of cream with 1 tsp of vanilla extract until soft peaks form.
  6. Carefully slice the cooled cake in half horizontally to create two layers.
  7. Spread half of the whipped cream over the bottom layer of the cake, then layer half of the macerated strawberries on top.
  8. Place the top layer of the cake on the strawberry-covered bottom. Spread the remaining whipped cream over the top and finish with the rest of the strawberries.
  9. Chill the assembled cake for at least an hour before serving.
