Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup active sourdough starter discard
  • 2 to 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup warm water
  • ½ cup unsalted butter
  • 4 cloves fresh garlic (minced) or 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • ¼ cup fresh chopped parsley
  • Cheese (mozzarella, cheddar, or dairy-free cheese)

Instructions

  1. Combine ingredients in a large mixing bowl with sourdough discard, flour, salt, and warm water until a shaggy dough forms.
  2. Knead the dough on a floured surface for 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  3. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm place for 1-2 hours until doubled in size.
  4. Melt butter in a saucepan, add minced garlic, and sauté until fragrant. Stir in chopped parsley.
  5. Punch down the dough and turn it onto a floured surface, dividing it into small pieces.
  6. Dip each piece in the garlic butter mixture and layer in a greased bundt or loaf pan.
  7. Cover the pan and let rise for another 30-45 minutes until puffy.
  8. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  9. Bake for 25-30 minutes until golden brown and cooked through; brush with garlic butter in the last 5 minutes.
  10. Cool for a few minutes before removing from the pan and serve warm.
