A delightful Sourdough French Toast Casserole perfect for brunch, combining crispy edges with a custardy center.

Ingredients

  • 6 cups of sourdough bread, cubed
  • 6 large eggs
  • 2 cups of milk
  • 1/2 cup of heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup of sugar
  • 2 tsp of vanilla extract
  • 1 tsp of ground cinnamon
  • Pinch of salt
  • Butter, for greasing
  • Maple syrup, for serving

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a baking dish with butter.
  2. Whisk together the eggs, milk, heavy cream, sugar, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and salt in a large bowl.
  3. Add the cubed sourdough bread to the mixture, stirring gently to coat.
  4. Pour the mixture into the prepared baking dish and let it sit for 15-30 minutes to soak.
  5. Bake for 35-45 minutes until the top is golden and the center is set.
  6. Let it cool slightly before serving. Drizzle with maple syrup.

Notes

Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container for up to 3 days. Also, you can prepare it the night before and let it soak overnight.
