A delightful Chicken Shawarma recipe that’s perfect for family dinners or casual gatherings, packed with vibrant flavors and juicy textures.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound chicken thighs, boneless and skinless
  • 1/4 cup plain yogurt
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon ground coriander
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground turmeric
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Pita bread or wraps for serving
  • Toppings: lettuce, tomato, cucumber, onion, and garlic sauce

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Marinade: In a large bowl, combine yogurt, olive oil, garlic, cumin, coriander, paprika, turmeric, cinnamon, salt, and pepper.
  2. Marinate the Chicken: Add the chicken thighs to the marinade and ensure they are well coated. Refrigerate for at least 1 hour or overnight.
  3. Preheat the Grill: Heat your grill or skillet over medium-high heat.
  4. Cook the Chicken: Cook the marinated chicken for about 5-7 minutes per side, or until fully cooked and slightly charred.
  5. Rest and Slice: Remove the chicken from heat and let it rest for a few minutes before slicing into strips.
  6. Assemble Your Shawarma: Serve the sliced chicken on warm pita bread or wraps, topped with fresh vegetables and garlic sauce.

Notes

Ensure longer marination for deeper flavor; rest the chicken after cooking for better juiciness.
