Delightful chocolate chip scones with a tender, flaky texture, perfect for breakfast or afternoon tea.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed
  • 3/4 cup heavy cream
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt until well combined.
  3. Cut in the cold, cubed butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. Stir in the heavy cream and vanilla extract until just combined.
  5. Fold in the chocolate chips until evenly distributed.
  6. Turn the dough onto a floured surface and knead gently just until it comes together.
  7. Cut the dough into wedges and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  8. Bake for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown on top.
  9. Let your scones cool slightly on a wire rack before serving.

Notes

Use cold butter for the best texture. These scones can be stored in an airtight container for up to 2 days or frozen for a month.
