Classic Thumbprint Cookies

Delicious and nostalgic thumbprint cookies filled with your favorite jam or preserves.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup jam or preserves (your choice)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Add the vanilla extract and mix it in well.
  4. Combine the flour and salt, mixing until just combined.
  5. Roll the dough into 1-inch balls and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  6. Create an indentation in the center of each cookie.
  7. Fill each indentation with your choice of jam or preserves.
  8. Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes or until the edges are lightly golden.
  9. Allow to cool on a wire rack before serving.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to one week. Freeze cookies for up to three months.
