A rich and indulgent chocolate poke cake soaked in sweetened condensed milk and chocolate syrup, topped with whipped cream.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 box chocolate cake mix
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 can sweetened condensed milk
  • 1/2 cup chocolate syrup
  • 1 container whipped topping
  • 1/2 cup chocolate shavings (optional)
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9×13 inch baking pan.
  2. Mix the chocolate cake mix, water, vegetable oil, and eggs in a large bowl until smooth and pour into the prepared pan.
  3. Bake according to the package instructions until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean—usually around 25-30 minutes.
  4. Cool the cake in the pan for about 10 minutes.
  5. Poke holes all over the surface of the warm cake using the handle of a wooden spoon.
  6. Prepare the chocolate mixture by mixing sweetened condensed milk and chocolate syrup until well combined.
  7. Fill the holes in the cake with the chocolate mixture.
  8. Top the cake with whipped topping evenly.
  9. Garnish with chocolate shavings and powdered sugar if desired.
  10. Chill the cake in the refrigerator for at least 120 minutes before serving.

Notes

Make sure the cake is completely cool before topping it with whipped cream to prevent melting.
