This Gooey Butter Cake features a rich, creamy layer atop a thick, crumbly base, creating a delightful dessert that is perfect for any gathering.

Ingredients

  • 1 package yellow cake mix
  • 1/2 cup butter, melted
  • 1 egg
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 3 cups powdered sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup milk

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13 inch baking pan.
  2. Combine the yellow cake mix, melted butter, and 1 egg in a mixing bowl. Stir until just combined.
  3. Press the mixture into the bottom of the greased pan until even.
  4. Beat together the softened cream cheese and powdered sugar in a separate bowl until smooth.
  5. Add the 2 eggs and 1 tsp vanilla extract to the cream cheese mixture and mix until silky-smooth.
  6. Pour the cream cheese mixture over the cake layer in the pan.
  7. Bake for 40-50 minutes, until the top is set and lightly golden.
  8. Cool in the pan before serving.

Notes

Serve with whipped cream and fresh berries. Store leftovers in an airtight container.
