A light and airy angel food cake perfect for any celebration, dressed with whipped cream and fresh berries.

  • 1 cup cake flour
  • 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
  • 12 large egg whites
  • 1 teaspoon cream of tartar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon almond extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Sift together the cake flour and 3/4 cup of the granulated sugar in a bowl.
  3. Beat the egg whites with an electric mixer until foamy.
  4. Add the cream of tartar and salt, continue to beat until soft peaks form.
  5. Gradually add the remaining sugar until stiff peaks form.
  6. Fold in the sifted flour mixture along with the vanilla and almond extract until just combined.
  7. Pour the batter into an ungreased angel food cake pan.
  8. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until golden and a toothpick comes out clean.
  9. Cool the cake by inverting the pan for at least an hour before removing.

Notes

For best results, ensure beaters and bowls are grease-free when whipping egg whites.
