Ingredients

Scale
  • 6 cups sliced apples
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 cup rolled oats
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup butter, melted

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) to get it nice and warm for baking.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine sliced apples, sugar, and cinnamon. Toss them gently until the apples are evenly coated with the sweet and spicy mixture.
  3. Spread the apple mixture evenly in a greased baking dish. Make sure to get every last bit into the dish to enjoy all that sweet goodness!
  4. Mix the rolled oats, flour, brown sugar, and melted butter until crumbly. The mixture should be moist yet crumbly, ready to create a delicious crust over the apples.
  5. Sprinkle the oat mixture evenly over the apple layer, ensuring every bite is covered with that delectable topping.
  6. Bake your dish in the preheated oven for 35-40 minutes or until the topping is golden brown and the apples are tender. You should be able to smell the sweetness wafting through your home!
  7. Serve warm, optionally topped with a scoop of ice cream if you’re feeling indulgent. The contrast of warm crisp and cold ice cream is sheer perfection!

Notes

For a lighter version, substitute half of the butter with unsweetened applesauce. Leftovers can be stored in the fridge for up to 3 days.
