Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 pounds pork shoulder
  • 1 cup BBQ sauce
  • 1 tablespoon smoked paprika
  • 1 tablespoon garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon onion powder
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 cup apple cider vinegar
  • Buns for serving

Instructions

  1. Create the Spice Rub: In a bowl, mix together smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, brown sugar, salt, and black pepper. Rub this mixture all over the pork shoulder, massaging it in to ensure every inch of meat is covered in flavor.
  2. Set Up the Slow Cooker: Place the seasoned pork shoulder in a slow cooker and pour apple cider vinegar and half of the BBQ sauce over the meat.
  3. Slow Cook the Pork: Cover and cook on low for 8-10 hours, or until the meat is so tender that you can shred it with a fork.
  4. Shred and Combine: Once cooked, remove the pork from the slow cooker and shred it using two forks. Mix it well with the remaining BBQ sauce.
  5. Assemble and Serve: Serve the pulled pork on buns, topped with extra BBQ sauce if desired. Enjoy!

Notes

Serve with homemade coleslaw, baked beans, or potato salad for a complete meal.
