A simple yet flavorful blackened salmon recipe that impresses with its crispy, smoky crust and succulent interior.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 salmon fillets
  • 2 tablespoons paprika
  • 1 tablespoon cayenne pepper
  • 1 tablespoon garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 lemon (for serving)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Spice Mixture: In a small bowl, combine paprika, cayenne pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, thyme, oregano, salt, and black pepper. Stir the spices well until blended.
  2. Rub the Spice Mixture on Salmon: Rub the spice mixture all over each salmon fillet, ensuring every inch is covered. Allow the flavors to infuse the salmon while preparing your skillet.
  3. Heat the Skillet: Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. You want it nicely hot to achieve that beautiful char.
  4. Sear the Salmon Fillets: Once the skillet is hot, add the salmon fillets skin-side down. Cook for about 3-4 minutes until it’s charred and then carefully flip them over. Cook for another 3-4 minutes until the salmon is cooked through and flakes easily with a fork.
  5. Serve with Lemon Wedges: Serve your blackened salmon immediately, garnished with lemon wedges. A squeeze of lemon brightens everything up, enhancing the flavors beautifully!

Notes

Use fresh ingredients for the best flavor. Monitor the heat of the skillet to achieve a good sear without burning the spices.
