Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup dark chocolate, chopped
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 large egg yolks
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C). Grease four ramekins with butter or cooking spray and place them on a baking tray.
  2. Combine the dark chocolate and butter in a medium microwave-safe bowl. Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring until smooth.
  3. Stir in the powdered sugar until well combined.
  4. Add the two large eggs and two egg yolks, mixing until fully incorporated.
  5. Add the vanilla extract, folding in the all-purpose flour and a pinch of salt until just combined.
  6. Divide the batter evenly among the prepared ramekins, filling them about three-quarters full.
  7. Bake in the preheated oven for about 12-14 minutes, until the edges are firm but the centers are soft.
  8. Remove from the oven and let sit for 1 minute, then invert onto plates.
  9. Serve immediately, optionally pairing with vanilla ice cream or fresh berries.

Notes

Don’t overbake the cakes to maintain the gooey center. Use high-quality chocolate for the best flavor.
