A rich chocolate cake filled with cream cheese, chocolate chips, and coconut, perfect for family gatherings.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup chopped pecans or walnuts
  • 1 package (18.25 oz) chocolate cake mix
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 cup shredded coconut
  • 1 cup chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13 inch baking pan.
  2. Spread the chopped nuts evenly on the bottom of the prepared pan.
  3. Mix together the chocolate cake mix, eggs, water, and vegetable oil until well combined. Pour this batter over the nuts.
  4. Beat the softened cream cheese and powdered sugar together until smooth and spoon it over the cake batter.
  5. Sprinkle the shredded coconut and chocolate chips generously on top.
  6. Pop the pan into the preheated oven and bake for 40-45 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  7. Once baked, let the Earthquake Cake cool completely before serving.
