Delightful fried ice cream encased in a crispy shell, perfect for summer gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups vanilla ice cream
  • 1 cup cornflakes (crushed)
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 egg
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • Oil for frying
  • Chocolate or caramel sauce (for drizzling)

Instructions

  1. Scoop the ice cream into balls and freeze them until solid, approximately 2 hours.
  2. Prepare your coatings by mixing the flour, sugar, and a pinch of salt in one bowl, whisking the egg and milk in another, and placing crushed cornflakes in a third bowl.
  3. Coat the ice cream balls in the flour mixture, then dip in the egg mixture, and finally coat with the crushed cornflakes.
  4. Freeze the coated balls for another hour to firm them up.
  5. Heat the oil to 350°F (175°C) in a deep fryer or heavy pan.
  6. Fry the ice cream balls for about 15-30 seconds until golden brown.
  7. Drain on paper towels to blot excess oil.
  8. Drizzle with warm chocolate or caramel sauce and serve immediately.

Notes

Ensure ice cream balls are very firm before frying for the best results. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the freezer for up to a week.
