  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 1 cup BBQ sauce
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Hamburger buns (for serving)
  • Coleslaw (optional, for topping)

Instructions

  1. Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat until shimmering but not smoking.
  2. Season both sides of the chicken breasts with garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper.
  3. Sauté the chicken in the skillet until browned on both sides, about 5-7 minutes.
  4. Add BBQ sauce over the chicken, cover, and reduce heat to low.
  5. Simmer for 20-25 minutes until cooked through and shreds easily.
  6. Remove chicken from skillet and shred using two forks.
  7. Return the shredded chicken to the skillet and stir to combine with the BBQ sauce.
  8. Serve the BBQ pulled chicken on hamburger buns and top with coleslaw if desired.
