A rich and moist chocolate cake that is perfect for celebrations or cozy evenings at home.

Ingredients

  • 1 and 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1 and 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 and 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 cup boiling water

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
  2. In a large bowl, sift together the flour, cocoa powder, granulated sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. Add the eggs, whole milk, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract to the dry mixture. Beat on medium speed for about 2 minutes.
  4. Carefully stir in the boiling water.
  5. Pour the batter evenly into the prepared cake pans.
  6. Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes.
  7. Let the cakes cool in the pans for about 10 minutes before removing them to wire racks.

Notes

For a richer flavor, consider adding a teaspoon of espresso powder or a cup of chocolate chips. Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days.
