Delicious churros rolled in cinnamon-sugar, served with a rich chocolate dipping sauce – the perfect treat for any occasion.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup water
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil
  • 2 eggs
  • Oil for frying
  • 1/2 cup sugar (for coating)
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream

Instructions

  1. Combine and Heat: In a saucepan, combine 1 cup of water, 2 tablespoons of sugar, and 1/2 teaspoon of salt over medium heat. Bring to a boil, watching closely to avoid boiling over.
  2. Remove the saucepan from heat and stir in 1 cup of all-purpose flour until a dough forms, stirring vigorously until it pulls away from the sides of the pan.
  3. Beat in 2 eggs, one at a time, ensuring each egg is fully incorporated and the dough is smooth and glossy.
  4. Heat oil in a deep fryer or large pot to 375°F (190°C). Test if it’s ready by dropping a small piece of dough into the oil; it should sizzle and rise to the surface.
  5. Pipe the dough into the hot oil in the shape of churros using a piping bag fitted with a star tip. Fry until golden brown on all sides, approximately 2-3 minutes per side.
  6. Mix 1/2 cup of sugar with 1 teaspoon of cinnamon in a bowl. Once the churros are fried and crisp, remove them from the oil and roll them in the sugar mixture until evenly coated.
  7. Heat 1/2 cup of heavy cream in a separate pot until it simmers. Pour it over 1 cup of semi-sweet chocolate chips in a bowl and stir until smooth and silky.
  8. Serve your churros warm alongside the chocolate sauce for dipping.

Notes

Best enjoyed fresh, churros can be stored in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days. To revive their crispiness, reheat them briefly in an oven.
