Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup apple cider
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 3 tablespoons melted butter (for coating)
  • Cinnamon sugar (for coating)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease your donut pan generously.
  2. Boil the apple cider in a medium saucepan over medium heat until it reduces to about 1/4 cup. Set aside to cool.
  3. Whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt in a large mixing bowl.
  4. Combine the egg, vegetable oil, vanilla extract, and reduced apple cider in another bowl and whisk until smooth.
  5. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and fold gently until mixed.
  6. Spoon the batter into the prepared donut pan, filling each cavity about three-quarters full.
  7. Slide the pan into the oven and bake for 10-12 minutes or until golden brown and a toothpick comes out clean.
  8. Cool the donuts for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack. Brush with melted butter and roll in cinnamon sugar.
