Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups stale bread, cubed
  • 2 cups milk
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup raisins (optional)
  • 1/4 cup butter, melted

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease your baking dish.
  2. Whisk together the milk, eggs, sugar, vanilla extract, and ground cinnamon in a large bowl until smooth.
  3. Combine the cubed stale bread with the liquid mixture and optional raisins, stirring to soak the bread.
  4. Pour the melted butter into the greased baking dish, coating the bottom.
  5. Assemble the bread mixture into the baking dish, spreading it evenly.
  6. Bake for about 45-50 minutes until set and golden brown.
  7. Rest the pudding slightly before slicing and serving.

Notes

For a custardy texture, let the mixture sit for 30 minutes before baking. For richness, consider using half-and-half instead of milk.
