Delicious cinnamon sugar churros with a crispy exterior and soft, chewy interior.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup water
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup sugar (for coating)
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • Oil (for frying)

Instructions

  1. Boil your base mixture: In a saucepan, combine the water, 2 tablespoons of sugar, salt, and 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil. Bring this mix to a boil over medium heat, allowing the sugar and salt to dissolve completely.
  2. Mix the flour: Once boiling, remove the saucepan from the heat and stir in the flour until the mixture is smooth. This should create a thick dough that clumps together.
  3. Incorporate eggs and vanilla: Let the dough cool slightly for a few minutes. Then beat in the eggs and vanilla extract until everything is well combined, and you have a glossy, thick mixture.
  4. Prepare for frying: Heat oil in a deep skillet until it reaches about 350°F (175°C). You can test if it’s ready by dropping in a small piece of dough—if it sizzles and floats, you’re good to go!
  5. Pipe and fry: Using a piping bag fitted with a star-shaped tip, pipe strips of the dough directly into the hot oil. Fry them in batches until they turn golden brown, about 2-3 minutes per side.
  6. Create the cinnamon sugar coating: While the churros are frying, mix the remaining sugar and ground cinnamon in a bowl, creating a delicious coating that will make these churros irresistible.
  7. Coat and serve: Once the churros are golden brown and crispy, remove them from the oil and drain on paper towels. While they are still warm, roll each churro in the cinnamon sugar mixture until they are fully coated. Enjoy the warm, sugary goodness!
