A warm and comforting French Toast Casserole that’s perfect for family breakfasts or special occasions.

  • 1 loaf of bread (such as challah or brioche)
  • 6 large eggs
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • Maple syrup (for serving)
  • Powdered sugar (for serving)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13 inch baking dish with butter.
  2. Cut the loaf of bread into delightful cubes and place them into the prepared baking dish.
  3. In a large bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, heavy cream, sugar, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and salt until smooth.
  4. Pour the egg mixture over the bread cubes, pressing down gently.
  5. Cover the dish with foil and let it sit for at least 30 minutes or refrigerate overnight.
  6. Bake covered for about 30 minutes.
  7. Remove the foil and continue baking for an additional 15-20 minutes until golden brown.
  8. Enjoy warm servings drizzled with maple syrup and powdered sugar.

Notes

For extra fluffiness, let the casserole sit overnight. Use day-old bread for the best texture.
