A delightful and flavorful Korean dish featuring marinated beef, perfect for lettuce wraps and sharing with friends.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound beef sirloin, thinly sliced
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon ginger, grated
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 green onion, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 1 carrot, julienned
  • 1 bell pepper, sliced
  • Lettuce leaves for serving

Instructions

  1. Whisk the Marinade: In a bowl, combine soy sauce, sugar, sesame oil, garlic, ginger, and black pepper to create the marinade.
  2. Marinate the Beef: Add the sliced beef to the marinade and let it sit for at least 30 minutes, preferably in the refrigerator.
  3. Sizzle the Beef: Heat the vegetable oil in a pan over medium-high heat. Add the marinated beef and cook for about 5-7 minutes until browned.
  4. Add the Vegetables: Add the carrots and bell pepper to the pan, and stir-fry for an additional 3-4 minutes until vegetables are tender.
  5. Wrap and Garnish: Serve the beef bulgogi wrapped in lettuce leaves, garnished with chopped green onion.

Notes

For the most tender beef, slice against the grain. Marinating overnight enhances the flavors.
