This Mongolian Beef is a quick and delicious one-pan dish featuring tender flank steak in a sweet and savory sauce made with soy sauce and brown sugar.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb flank steak, sliced thinly
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 teaspoon ginger, minced
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 cup soy sauce
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup green onions, chopped
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Cooked rice for serving

Instructions

  1. Mix the soy sauce and brown sugar in a bowl until the sugar dissolves. Set aside.
  2. Heat oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add the sliced flank steak and season with salt and pepper. Cook until browned, about 3-4 minutes.
  3. Add minced ginger and garlic to the skillet and cook for an additional 1 minute, stirring constantly to prevent burning.
  4. Pour the soy sauce mixture over the beef and bring to a simmer.
  5. Cook for about 2-3 minutes, allowing the sauce to thicken slightly and cling to the beef.
  6. Stir in the chopped green onions and remove from heat.
  7. Serve hot over a bed of fluffy cooked rice.

Notes

Slice the flank steak against the grain for better tenderness. Consider adding bell peppers or snap peas for extra crunch.
