A deliciously gooey dessert with a molten chocolate center, perfect for special occasions.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tablespoon red food coloring
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 cup buttermilk
  • 4 ounces semi-sweet chocolate, chopped

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C).
  2. Grease and flour 4 ramekins.
  3. In a mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.
  4. Melt the unsalted butter in a separate bowl and mix it with sugar until combined.
  5. Add the eggs, red food coloring, and vanilla extract, mixing until smooth.
  6. Stir in the buttermilk until incorporated.
  7. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring gently.
  8. Divide half the batter among the ramekins.
  9. Place a piece of semi-sweet chocolate in the center of each ramekin and cover with the remaining batter.
  10. Bake in the oven for about 12-15 minutes.
  11. Remove from the oven and let cool for a minute before inverting onto plates.

Notes

Serve warm with powdered sugar and ice cream. Store leftovers in the refrigerator for up to 2 days.
